Roanoke, Va. — The law firm Spilman Thomas & Battle announced today that Paul M. Black was named 2010 Legal Elite by Virginia Business magazine for bankruptcy. Black is a member in Spilman’s Roanoke office.

Since 2000, the magazine has honored top attorneys in a variety of legal disciplines. The Legal Elite ballot, which was sent to 11,500 lawyers this year, allows attorneys to nominate peers in 15 legal categories.

Black’s primary areas of practice are creditors’ rights and bankruptcy, and commercial and banking litigation. He is a member of the Virginia State Bar Disciplinary Board, the American Bankruptcy Institute and the Roanoke Bar Association. He received his B.A. from Washington and Lee University in 1982 and his J.D. from the University of Richmond in 1985.
