Gov. Corbett Receives Honor from Army Heritage Center Foundation

October 28, 2024

Pittsburgh — Spilman Thomas & Battle (Spilman) announced that former Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett was honored with the Major General John Armstrong Award by the Army Heritage Center Foundation for his strong legacy of supporting the military community in the state of Pennsylvania.

“Supporting service members and veterans is deeply embedded in our firm’s values,” said Michael J. Basile, the firm's Managing Member. “We are proud of Governor Corbett’s recognition and remain dedicated to fostering an environment that honors and supports those who serve our country.”

Governor Corbett has a longstanding record of advocating for service members and veterans, shaped in part by his service in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard from 1971 to 1984. Similarly, Spilman’s dedication to supporting the military community dates back to its founding during the Civil War. Corbett’s commitment to this cause aligns with the firm’s enduring values and tradition of honoring those who serve.

At Spilman, Corbett provides strategic counsel to companies involved in high-stakes litigation and advises businesses and corporate executives who are the target of government investigations. He also counsels clients on public policy issues and guides them through regulatory matters.

As Governor, Corbett was recognized nationally for his innovative approach to energy development and historic infrastructure improvements. He made smart investments in education, health care, and modernizing state government. Furthermore, the judges he nominated to the bench received wide bipartisan support.

Also during his term as Governor, Corbett helped the Foundation fund the U.S. Army Heritage and Educations Center’s popular Hall of the American Soldier.
