Spilman SuperVision™ Helps Companies Prepare for Bet-the-Company Compliance Issues in Today's Overly Scrutinized Business Environment
Charleston, W.Va. — Spilman Thomas & Battle (Spilman) announced that nearly 100 business leaders from the Mid-Atlantic region gathered today for the law firm's SuperVision™ symposium, which focused on helping companies prepare for bet-the-company HR compliance issues in an age of heightened media coverage.
"Today’s media outlets are increasingly focused on the workplace," said Eric W. Iskra, chair of Spilman's labor and employment practice group. "The headlines are unrelenting: #MeToo, workplace crimes, pay equity, jury verdicts for employees, ethics complaints, the list goes on."
"Businesses need to know how to manage a workforce when faced with this increased scrutiny," he continued. "Our symposium has been designed specifically for HR professionals and company executives to put in place best practices and to navigate the myriad workplace issues in this challenging environment."
The symposium covered topics to help attendees confidently respond to high-stakes compliance issues and litigation, such as corporate criminal charges, sexual misconduct allegations, corporate ethics investigations and gender equity.
The SuperVision™ labor and employment event series was launched in 2007 and has become a mainstay in Spilman's approach to delivering a different law firm experience. The symposia are complimentary and are offered at various locations throughout Spilman's Mid-Atlantic footprint every year.
