Mr. Craig’s primary area of practice consists of civil litigation. He has been involved in managing hundreds of commercial cases over his career representing a broad spectrum of clients from small businesses to large hospital networks. His first chair trial to verdict experience is extensive. Mr. Craig also has experience in health care law, as well as in the mergers and acquisitions of hospitals.
Experience
- Defending clients in litigation matters in state and federal courts throughout West Virginia
- Litigating civil cases to verdict for over 42 years
- Defending hospitals, health care networks, doctors, medical groups, and nurses against medical negligence claims and employment discrimination matters, including age, gender, race, disability discrimination, and harassment cases
- Appellate practice before the West Virginia Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit
- Advising hospital boards of directors on federal and state health care laws and regulations, as well as compliance issues
- Representing clients on administrative claims before the West Virginia Health Care Authority
- Representing two large West Virginia hospitals in a contested anti-trust case before the Federal Trade Commission, resulting in a withdrawal of FTC objections and a closed investigation
- Drafted and lobbied for Senate Bill 597 of the 2016 West Virginia Legislature exempting certain actions of the Health Care Authority from State and federal anti-trust laws
- Negotiating and drafting the Assurance of Voluntary Compliance with the West Virginia Attorney General immunizing the corporate agreement for our client, Mountain Health Network, and the Health Care Authority of the State of West Virginia
- Alternative Dispute Resolution through mediation and arbitration
