In 2015, the West Virginia Legislature amended the West Virginia Consumer Credit and Protection Act in response to hundreds of lawsuits by consumers based on vague provisions in that statute. The amendments sought to reduce the number of consumers' lawsuits being filed by making those provisions more explicit and reducing the amount of penalties at stake. We are now four years past the time when those amendments took effect. In this webinar Spilman attorney Nick Mooney discusses the effects those amendments have had on consumers' lawsuits, the change in the bases for those lawsuits, and the increasing number of class actions being filed.
