Spilman recently was successful in helping a biotech startup in Blacksburg, Virginia garner $10 million in funding to begin clinical trials of a potentially breakthrough drug. It represents the largest funding round for a Roanoke or Blacksburg startup since at least 2012 and the first, to our knowledge, from a New York-based venture capitalist.
